Garden City, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team returned to the court on Saturday afternoon when they host Bentley for their spring Northeast-10 conference opener.
The Panthers' no. 1 doubles tandem of Marko Jovanovic and Rodrigo Ochoa set the tone for the match as they won their match fairly quickly, 6-3. The no. 2 duo of Hugo Munoz Reinoso and Spyridon Papageorgiou were not far behind as they also won their match 6-3. Louca Bertone and Andrea Albiero wrapped up the doubles portion with a tight 7-6 win as they took the tiebreak, 7-2.
Jovanovic picked up where he left off and took the no. 1 single match, 6-3, 6-3. Papageorgiou was also dominant in his match, winning 6-3, 6-2. The remaining matches were closely contested, but the Panthers remained calm, cool and collected as they swept them all to win 7-0.
Ochoa won his match 6-4, 6-2 while Bertone, Albiero and Matias Hoyos were all victorious in three games.
The 'Cats return to the court on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a non-conference tiny against the University of the District of Columbia.
