Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#1 Men's Lacrosse Nearly Shuts Out STAC, 22-4

Garden City, N.Y. - Spending majority of the contest with possession, the no. 1 Adelphi University men's lacrosse program came away with a 22-4 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday evening, in its home opener.

This marks the third game since 2020 that the Panthers (2-0) took over 65 shots, as they finished with 69 in the win.

Twelve different players scored, with Michael Durnin leading the way with five goals. The sophomore also led the team in overall points - eight - after adding three helpers to boot. Braden Donnellan was also responsible for a hat trick and a trio of assists to bring his season mark up to 11.

William Greaves and Michael Hendrickson took on the faceoff X duties, with the former finishing at a 13-for-19 clip and the latter adding a 5-for-8 performance.

Adelphi's defense were all over the ball as three different athletes - Ries Bower, Michael D'Alessandro and Durnin - collected five or more ground balls.

It was a offensive onslaught from the very start as Adelphi put back three in less than four minutes. The 'Cats went on to score eight - on 25 shots before the Spartans (0-1) even had a chance in their attacking zone.

Cam Wallace for STAC broke the silence with a man-up tally in the second but a slew of Panthers kept driving at the goal, making it a 15-1 advantage at the half.

The visitors manged a pair of goals on four shots in the third but the damage was already done. Dylan Renner and Aidan Green both saw time between the pipes, accounting for three and five saves, respectively.

Adelphi gets back to work on Saturday, March 1 when they take on East Coast Conference foe, Mercy University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
