Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls at Pace, 45-61

Pleasantville, N.Y. - Anchored by 19 opposing first half points from Tower Lorde, the Adelphi University women's basketball team fell to cross-state foe Pace University on the road Wednesday evening, by a final score of 61-45.

Free throws were the name of the game early on, as the Setters found themselves at the line seven times in the first set of 10 minutes. A 6-0 run capped by a Rolanda Robinson layup kept the game tied late in the first frame, but ultimately the hosts pulled away to lead by five by the buzzer.

Coming with equal production for the second, Lorde tallied nine points as she continued to earn herself bonus opportunities. An additional nine points came from the stripe by the halftime horn, on 11 attempts. A 19-6 quarter was highlighted by Pace netting nearly a 54% clip from the floor, while the 'Cats struggled making only one field goal over the same stretch.

Lauren Beberman's two blocks stood out at the break, improving on the previous 22 this season that had her in sixth place across the Northeast-10.

Kaitlyn O'Connell nailed her 70th three-point shot of the year in the third quarter, becoming just the sixth Panther to do so in a single-season. Robinson and Lateisha Willis rounded out the final scoring before the teams headed to the fourth.

The Brown and Gold won the final frame, hitting two shots from beyond the arc courtesy of freshman Madison Williams and O'Connell. Me'Challe Cancer had an impressive fourth quarter, finishing with six points and a steal. Lorde completed her night with 28 on the scoreboard.

Head Coach Sade Jackson and Adelphi will be back in action on Saturday, February 22 when they continue their road trip against Southern New Hampshire. Game time from Manchester, N.H. is set for 1:30 p.m.
