Rindge, NH - With the help of a career-high mark for
Victoria Morales, the Adelphi University women's basketball team took a statement victory on Saturday, defeating Franklin Pierce University 70-50.
Series History:
- Saturday's contest marked the 23rd meeting between the Panthers and the Ravens, dating back to January of 2010.
- With the win, Adelphi holds a 13-10 advantage over Franklin Pierce all-time.
Highlights:
- Morales went 9-for-19 from the field with a 5-for-6 performance at the free throw line to pour in a team-leading 26 points. She also completed the double-double with 12 rebounds.
- Gianna Chuffo had 12 points while Me'Challe Cancer rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11.
How it Happened:
- Adelphi put together a commanding first quarter that made it hard for the home team to come back from, outscoring the hosts 26-5.
- Franklin Pierce managed to win the second frame - only by a pair of points, to still trail by 17 at the halftime break.
- The Panthers put up another 25-point quarter in the third, but rode the first quarter dominance to a 20-point victory.
- As the team, the Cats shot 41 percent from the field and had a 10-for-14 day at the charity stripe.
