Rindge, N.H. – The Adelphi men's basketball team won its fourth game in a row and second conference game in a row, besting Franklin Pierce 65-63 on a game-winner from Al-Fatir Connor with 2.8 seconds remaining.

Series History:

  • Adelphi (7-1) moves to 12-10 all-time against Franklin Pierce, giving the Panthers a five-game win streak over the Ravens. The last matchup featured an offensive onslaught from Adelphi as it won 96-53 with four players in double digits.

Highlights:

  • Mason Jackson was second on the team with 17 points, shooting 50% from both the field (7-14) and beyond the arc (3-6).

  • Reece Brown brought down the most rebounds of his Panther career with seven and added six points off of the bench..

How It Happened:

  • Franklin Pierce was in the driver's seat in the first half, leading for 17:28 of the opening frame and jumping out to an early 11 point lead.

  • The Panthers clawed their way back into the game, briefly holding a lead themselves but that did not last long as a shooting slump sent the teams into the break with Franklin Pierce holding a slim 27-24 lead.

  • In the second half, Adelphi found its shooting stroke, knocking down 54.8% of shots taken. This flipped the game on its head, as it was the Panthers who led for 17:12 of the second half.

  • Adelphi led by 10 with 5:34 remaining but the Ravens did not go away. Franklin Pierce continued to fight, cutting the lead down to three. The home team took advantage of a missed free throw by Adelphi and hit a game-tying shot with six seconds left.

  • The ensuing inbound play for the Panthers went to Connor, who dribbled the length of the court for a strong finish at the hoop to put the Panthers up 65-63.

  • Franklin Pierce's last second half court heave did not fall and Adelphi took home the victory.

Hear from Coach Duke:

  • "I am very proud of the team for pulling out a win. Every game in this league is very difficult, especially on the road. Our ability to stay together the entirety of the game speaks to the character of our guys."
