Burke's 26 Points Boosts Men's Basketball Over Queens, 91-82

Flushing, N.Y. – The Adelphi men's basketball team found itself back in the win column after a 91-82 defeat of Queens College on Tuesday afternoon.

Series History:

  • Adelphi moves to 22-6 all-time against Queens, with its last win being a 77-52 victory during the Conference Challenge in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Nov. 14.

Highlights:

  • Patrick Burke was the team's leading scorer with 26 points, besting his career high of 15 that he scored on Nov. 19 in the win over Southern Connecticut State. He also added six rebounds and two assists.

  • Dayshaun Walton scored 20 points, shooting 5-9 from the floor and making 10 of his 14 free throws.

  • Matthew Price (13 points) and Al-Fatir (11 points) were the two other Panthers to eclipse double digits.

How It Happened:

  • Adelphi (4-1) jumped out to a big lead in the first half, leading 26-8 with just over 10 minutes to play.

  • The Panther lead grew to as many as 20 after a Burke layup with 2:46 remaining in the period.

  • Queens tried to fight its way back into the game in the second half, but just like the first meeting between the squads, it was too little too late and Adelphi still came away with a double digit victory.

  • Adelphi's non-starters dominated, scoring 22 bench points compared to the Knights' three .

  • The Panthers shot at a 57.7% clip and compared to Queens' 43.1% effort, even though the Knights took 20 more shots.

Hear from Coach Duke:

  • "I thought the team did a great job playing hard for 40 minutes. Although there were numerous mistakes that need to be corrected, the effort put forth was something that I am proud of."

Up Next:

  • The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday, November 30 when they finally return for their home opener. Tip from the Center for Recreation and Sport is set for 3:30 p.m.
