Men's Basketball Tops Queens in Season Opener, 77-52

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team got their first win in 2025-26 on Friday at the ECC/NE10 Conference Challenge as they took down Queens College, 77-52.

Series History:
  • Adelphi moves to 21-6 all-time against Queens College, dating back to 2003, winning the last two matchups.
  • The Panthers longest win streak against the Knights occurred from 2006-2016 when they won 12 consecutive meetings.
Highlights:
  • Jackson led all Adelphi players with 20 points with 8-for-9 shooting from the field. He was one of three players to reach double-figures.
  • Burke and newcomer Reece Brown both poured in 14 points apiece, combining for 12 rebounds.
  • Carter Wilson also scored his first points in a Panther uniform, knocking down a single three-pointer - one of six that Adelphi made from beyond three.
  • The Panthers saw four different players come off the bench and combine for 40 points, which included a 20-spot from Jackson.
How It Happened:
  • The Panthers (1-0) dominated the first half, as Mason Jackson went 5-for-6 from the field to account for 11 of the Cats' 42 points. The team posted a whopping 64 field goal percentage in the opening half, as seven different players contributed points.
  • With six boards from Patrick Burke, Adelphi held a 14-11 edge in rebounding and doubled their points in the paint than that of Queens.
  • The Knights tried to rally in the second half, but were held to a sub-30 shooting percentage for the half, while Adelphi made half of their attempted shots.
  • Adelphi saw it's largest lead with 17 seconds left in the contest as they pushed ahead by 26, making the deficit too great for Queens to overcome.
