Women's Swimming & Diving Edges Bridgeport in Season Opener, 141-134

Bridgeport, Conn. - After concluding the 2024-25 campaign with a sixth place showing at the Northeast 10 Conference Championship meet, the Adelphi University women's swimming and diving program kicked off the new year with a 141-134 win at Bridgeport on Friday. 

Meet Highlights: 
  • Emily Munayirji contributed to three top swims, including the team's 200 medley relay, and individual events 200 freestyle, and 200 backstroke. 
  • Newcomer Angelina Fazzino placed first in the women's 400 freestyle, topping the field with a sub-5:00 minute time at 4:57.04 - the Long Island native is completing her fifth year with the Panthers after a career at Florida Southern College. 
  • Kelly Tula topped the 200 butterfly race in a time of 2:35.50 and was also part of the 200 medley quartet that kicked off the meet with a victory. 
  • Melany Arevalo outscored her opponent in the 1M diving event, scoring 133.95 and earned points in the 3M diving, uncontested. 
  • Aizel Pusing saw a six second win in the 200 breaststroke, followed by Natalia Brulinski to earn 13 points for the Panther squad. 
  • Maya Bieganowski clocked in at second and third, respectively in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, for her first collegiate outing.  
Both swim programs are back in action on Friday, Oct. 17 when they take on Pace University for a dual meet. Action will get underway at 7:00 p.m.
