Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Ten Straight! Men's Basketball Takes Care of AIC, 71-58

Garden City, N.Y. — Head coach Dave Duke and the Adelphi men's basketball team returned home for the first time in nearly a month when they hosted AIC on Wednesday night, looking to win their tenth straight game.

The first five minutes of the game saw only ten points scored as the conference foes were locked into a 5-5 tie early on. Leads would be traded for the next few minutes before a pair of three pointers from Andres Fulgencio and free throws from Tavin Pierre Philippe put the Panthers up six.

Adelphi held their six point lead until just under a minute remaining in the first half when the Yellow Jackets hit some high pressure shots to cut the deficit to one entering the break.

AIC looked to gain momentum after their comeback but the 'Cats came out firing in the second half. A three ball from Dayshaun Walton followed by two more threes from Andres Fulgencio had Adelphi go up 10 and take all of the wind out of AIC's sails.

The Yellow Jackets attempted to get back into the ball game but Adelphi, like it did in its previous game against Saint Michael's, played incredible second half defense and stayed hot on offense.

After the halfway point of the second half, the Panther lead was never less than 10 as they took home an imposing 71-58 lead. Adelphi extended its win streak to 10, and improved its record to 15-4, 7-1 NE10.

Fulgencio once again led the 'Cats in scoring with 16, followed by Walton and Pierre Philippe who potted 14.

Jarnel Rancy tied his season-high in blocks with eight, moving his season total to 72.

Patrick Burke led the team with seven boards.

The Panthers will return to the court on Saturday afternoon when they take on SNHU in the CRS at 3:30 p.m.
