Heaven Eleven! Men's Hoops Bests SNHU to Extend Win Streak

Garden City, N.Y. —  The Adelphi men's basketball continued conference play on Saturday afternoon when they hosted Southern New Hampshire for Youth Day.

The first 12 minutes of the opening half were closely contested with neither team being able to pull away. SNHU held a 17-16 lead and saw it grow to seven after a sustained 18-9 run.

With the Panthers trailing by seven, Matthew Price hit a big three pointer to spark the Adelphi offense. Jarnel Rancy's strong presence in the paint resulted in two made free throws and a Mason Jackson triple put the 'Cats ahead by one. The Penmen responded just before the buzzer as a pull up jumper gave them a 34-33 lead heading into the break.

Coming out of the locker room, Adelphi went ahead on their first possession off of a Dayshaun Walton jumper and never gave the lead up again.

The 'Cats were off and firing in the second half as they once again played stifling defense and responded whenever SNHU was able to hit a shot. The key moment in the game was a triple from Andres Fulgencio with just over six minutes left to play. The shot put the CRS on its feet and rattled the road team.

Adelphi's lead would continue to grow as SNHU was held to 28.6% shooting from the floor in the half and went a lowly 2-14 from three. The Panthers went on to win the game, 73-61, extending their win streak to 11.

Fulgencio (7-9 shooting, 4-5 from three) and Walton (8-13 shooting, 2-4 from three) led the team in scoring with 18 points a piece.

Mason Jackson tied his career high in rebounds with 12.

Head coach Dave Duke and the 'Cats return to the court on Tuesday when they host nationally ranked Pace in a clash between two of the top teams in the NE10
