Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nine in a Row! Men's Basketball Stifles Saint Michael's in 74-50 Win

Colchester, Vt. — The Adelphi men's basketball team played the final game of their five game road trip on Sunday afternoon when they traveled up to Saint Michael's.

The game started off slowly, with the Panthers holding a 12-7 lead at the halfway point of the first half. Saint Michael's scored the next six points, gaining a one point lead themselves before Adelphi sprang for an 8-0 run.

The 'Cats led by as many as nine in the frame but the home team fought its way back, flipping momentum with a 14-5 run.

It seemed as Saint Michael's was going to take lead into the break before Matthew Price hit a clutch three at the buzzer to put Adelphi up 32-31 when the teams headed to the locker room.

That Price triple seemed to fire up the Panthers as they came out absolutely flying in the second half. Shots from Mason Jackson, Tavin Pierre Philippe and Andres Fulgencio had the Adelphi lead grow to 10 and the defense was absolutely stifling.

Saint Michael's only scored 19 points in the second half and was help to just 28.3% shooting overall. The 'Cats ended the game on an impressive 22-10 run and took home a big 74-50 win.

Pierre Philippe, Fulgencio and Jackson led the team in scoring with 14 points each.

Jackson recorded his first double-double of the season, grabbing a Panther-high 11 boards.

Jarnel Rancy continued to dominate on the defensive side of the ball and recorded five blocks, moving to his national leading number to 64.

Head Coach Dave Duke and the Panthers will return to the CRS for the first time in almost a month when they host AIC on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
