Garden City, N.Y. - Turning the page to 2025, the Adelphi University men's lacrosse team will kick start the season as the nearly-unanimous no. 1 in three different polls, seeing Inside Lacrosse, USA Lacrosse Magazine and United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released this week.
Two of the three polls have the Panthers ahead of the University of Tampa while USA Lacrosse has Limestone slotted at the no. 2 spot. 2024 finalist Lenoir Rhyne appears at no. 3 in all three polls released thus far. Despite graduating 22, outlets are reporting the Bears' depth will alleviate losses.
In addition to top-attention in the polls, the Panthers led the USA Lacrosse Division II Preseason All-American lists with six nods, headlined by first-team selections
Kyle Lewis and
Dylan Renner.
Preseason All-Americans are compiled by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors with consultation from college coaches.
Renner, the returning National Player of the Year, was not only the statistical leader in saves percentage for D2, but his mark bested all other netminders from across all divisions (.647). He was the last line of defense in a unit that ranked second in scoring defense and man-down defense.
Second Team selections appear for returners Nicholas O'Shea and
Michael D'Alessandro as transfer
Ries Bower gets a nod for his first season in an Adelphi uniform.
Bower was an honorable mention selection a year ago for the USILA following a season with the Yellow Jackets that saw him erase both the Northeast-10 and NCAA Division II mark for single season caused turnovers.
Kevin Groom graces the Third Team ahead of 2025 and returning attack
Braden Donnellan represents the Brown and Gold as an Honorable Mention choice. Donnellan was ranked in the top-50 nationally last season for assists per game and inside the top-100 for points per game and shot percentage.
Adelphi will start on Feb. 12 against Georgian Court before opening up at home on February 22 against St. Thomas Aquinas College.
