Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Make It Eight! Men's Basketball Dominates New Haven in 79-64 Win

West Haven, Conn. – Head coach Dave Duke and the Adelphi men's basketball team were searching for their eighth win in a row when they returned to the court after their holiday break on Thursday night to take on Northeast-10 foe New Haven.

The game started off with a back and forth early as both teams were squared at nine four minutes in. A group of layups from Mason Jackson, Patrick Burke and Dayshaun Walton saw the Panther lead grow to ten less than five minutes later.

Buckets were traded for the remainder of the half and although the 'Cats lead dwindled down to three, Andres Fulgencio, Al-Fatir Connor and Burke hit some shots and put Adelphi up eight at the break.

The Panther defense held stout as the second period began and the lead grew to 15 after a Dayshaun Walton and-1. From there, the offense on both sides slowed down and the Brown and Gold were able to take advantage.

For the remainder of the game, the Adelphi lead would never be less than nine as the Panthers took home their eighth straight win in a 79-64 victory.

Fulgencio led the team with 22 points on 80% shooting. Dayshaun Walton followed with 15 points.

Tavin Pierre Philippe led the 'Cats in rebounds (six), assists (five) and steals (three).

Burke shot a perfect 5-5 from the floor and tied his season high with 11 points.

Jarnel Rancy recorded two blocks, bringing his country-leading total to 59.

The Panthers will return to the court on Sunday afternoon when they finish up their five game road trip at Saint Michael's at 3:30 p.m.
