Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Wilmington (Del.)

Waltham, Mass. — The Adelphi women's soccer team took on Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday morning in their second game of the Bentley Kickoff Tournament.

The Panthers were back on their heels in the early goings as Wilmington had four shots in the first 12 minutes of the game. The Wildcats would eventually capitalize and took the lead on a goal in the 24th minute.

Adelphi would respond, quickly bringing the ball into Wilmington's end and attacking. Three shots and a corner kick would open up the field as a beautiful pass sprang Lola Kochanskyj free for her first goal of the season and brought the game to a 1-1 tie.

In the second half, Wilmington attacked quickly and took a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute. The 'Cats would respond with four shots in the next ten minutes but could not find the back of the net. That would be the story for the rest of the game and Adelphi fell 2-1.

Adelphi and Wilmington both had 12 shots in the match, while the Panthers had four corner kicks compared to the Wildcats' three.

Peyton DeRouen made three saves and Isabella Banellis recorded her first assist of the season.

Head coach Brooke DeRosa and the Panthers will return to the field on Wednesday for their home opener against Daeman at 11 a.m.
