Garden City, N.Y — Wednesday morning was a fun one for head coach Brooke DeRosa and the Adelphi women's soccer team. The Panthers scored five goals for the first time since last season when they defeated Pace on Oct. 3.
Daemen had an early chance, hitting the post in the 5th minute but that seemingly woke up the 'Cats. From there, it was all Adelphi as they began to rip off scoring chances in Daemen's end, taking nine shots in the first 30 minutes.
Carly Issing started off the scoring in the 37th minute with an assist from Madison Apicella and less than one minute later, Issing would return the favor and assist on Apicella's goal that gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Adelphi would keep on going with its offensive attack as Gia Mandile scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute off a feed from Kayleigh Goodrich. Just four minutes later, Goodrich would respond with a goal of her own as she scored an absolute screamer from outside the box to put the 'Cats up four.
Issing would cap off the Adelphi scoring with her second goal of the game, tapping in a cross-box feed from Sarah Kent. This was Issing's first brace since Nov. 1, 2021 when she scored two in a 3-0 victory over Georgian Court.
Adelphi outshot Daemen 27 to four in the game and had six corner kicks compared to the Wildcats' three.
Peyton DeRouen had a clean sheet with three saves.
Madison Howard and Reeghan McCarthy both made their collegiate debuts.
The Panthers will return to the pitch on Saturday the 21st when they travel to Southern Connecticut State to kick off conference play at 2 p.m.
