Caldwell, NJ - With her second double-digit kills performance in three games,
Delaney Kiendra led the Adelphi University volleyball team in its non-conference victory against Caldwell University on Thursday evening in commanding fashion.
The Cougars (0-8) were held to single digit scoring in the second and third frames as the Panthers (8-6) ran up the score, totaling 30 kills between the two sets. The last time Adelphi dropped a set to Caldwell was in a five-set loss dating back to 2012.
Kiendra's 11 kills were a game-high as she posted a .529 hitting percentage for the match, followed closely by
Noelle Alberda who accounted for nine.
After a tightly contested opening stretch of points in the first, the Panthers found their stride courtesy of a
Jamaya Harris service ace that fell inside a five-point swing. A kill from
Kambel Fiser sent
Autumn Moore to the service line, and the team put together a six-point stretch that saw them double the score of the home team at 22-11.
Jaydin Nowak closed the door on the first with an ace - one of the Panther's nine for the contest.
An attack error from
Emilia Cascapera was the final point for Caldwell in the second, as she bounced back to score four of the ensuing six points. The home team was kept scoreless as the Panther attack continued finding the floor and taking advantage of Cougar miscues.
The visitors worked out to a 9-1 lead and extended their advantage to 20-3 in a flash, committing very few errors. Newcomer
Elsa Richards collected some touches down the stretch, assisting on four points en route to a 25-6 win.
Adelphi looks to extend its winning streak to four with one more non-conference matchup on Monday, September 30. The Cats take on Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m.
