Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Dominates Crosstown Rival Molloy in 3-0 Win

Garden City, N.Y. — The Adelphi men's soccer team took a quick break from conference action on Tuesday night when it took on familiar face Molloy at Motamed Field.

The Panthers turned it up early on when Victor Castel had a prime scoring chance seven minutes in, but the ball sailed just over the bar. Throughout the early stages, Adelphi had the edge and finally took a lead in the 27th minute.

Pablo Ablanedo would float a pretty pass to the feet of Pablo Herrera who would take one touch, turn around and fire an absolute strike past the Lions' goalkeeper to put the 'Cats up one.

The Brown and Gold kept peppering the Molloy defense, looking to gain a two score lead just before halftime and just one minute remaining in the first frame they did exactly that.

Luca Boast curled a corner kick to the back past where it found the head of Lucas Nicolaou who would score the first goal of his collegiate career and give Adelphi a 2-0 lead.

The second half was once again all Panthers as the completely controlled the game. Any offensive attempt by Molloy was thwarted by the Adelphi back line.

The 'Cats would add their third goal of the game in the 64th minute when Richard DeBrosse potted his team-high fourth goal of the season thanks to a beautiful pass from Castel.

Adelphi would hold firm for the remainder of the match and extend its winning streak to three with a 3-0 victory.

Santiago Arango recorded a clean sheet with five saves.

The Panthers outshot the Lions 19-11 and held a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.

Head coach Gary Book and the Adelphi men's soccer team will return to the pitch on Saturday when they host Saint Michael's for Alumni Day.
