Another Ace-Fest -Volleyball Tops Holy Family in Non-Conference Action

Philadelphia, PA - With another outing of more than doubling the aces of their opponents, the Adelphi University volleyball team has swept Holy Family on Tuesday evening, in non-conference action.

The Panthers (2-3) are working their way to a .500 overall record, as the team continues non-Northeast-10 Conference play this week. The team registered 12 service aces to its opponents' five, led by Kalena Ricketts who accounted for five herself.

An overall even first set, the Tigers (2-1) posted a better team hitting percentage as the Panther attack found its stride. With 12 kills from their side of the court, they also committed 11 errors to hit sub-.100 as a group. After a 4-0 start for the hosts, Adelphi got it together and rattled off five straight points to get themselves back in the opening set. From there, the teams traded small runs all the way up to being knotted at 22-all.

A kill from Noelle Alberda returned service to the 'Cats and Autumn Moore closed the door with a set-ending service ace to take a 25-22 first set win.

Wasting no time - and cleaning up the offense - Adelphi was quickly up 7-2 in the second, a lead they would not relinquish. With 17 kills on 30 attempts, the Panthers continued to find the floor as Holy Family struggled to gain any momentum. Seven of the final nine points were all Brown and Gold as they easily moved to 2-0 in the contest with a 25-12 victory.

A 9-1 run fueled the Panthers in the third and final set, which the visitors took by a 25-10 decision. Jamaya Harris notched the final of 12 service aces for the Panthers, marking their second game in as many outings with double-digit aces.

Macarty McQueen led all players with 13 kills as reigning NE10 Setter of the Week Kambel Fiser paced the offense once again with 37 assists.

Adelphi heads to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a weekend of non-league competition. They'll take on Shippensburg University on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1:00 p.m. before taking on Ashland in a nightcap at 7:00 p.m.
