Pomona, N.Y. - This past Friday, the Adelphi University men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College at Rotella Golf Course.

The Panthers competed against six other schools across the one-day, two-round tournament. The other schools in attendance in reverse order of finish were: The College of Saint Rose, Felician University, Wilmington University, Assumption University, Dominican University (N.Y.), and champion STAC.

Sophomore Johnny Solari led the Brown and Gold on the day, shooting a three-over in both rounds to finish with a total score of 150, slotting at eighth amongst his competitors. Graduate Student Filip Wetterqvist tied Solari in the first round with a three-over 75, but his second round completed with a five-over 77, earning a 12th place finish.

Alec Ramos wasn't far off his two teammates leading him through 18, just one stroke off the team lead. However, a seven-over 79 in Round 2 ended his day in 22nd place. Newcomer Axel Romney was the only golfer able to improve his Round 1 score the second time around, shooting a 78 vs. his earlier 79. The freshman finished in 26th place.

Francis Lanuza rounded out the Panther scorecard with a total score of 160, ten strokes behind leader Solari.

Head Coach David Mattana and the 'Cats now look to the St. Joe's Long Island Invitational starting on Friday (Apr. 12,) hosted by Saint Joseph's University (N.Y.) at Bellport Country Club in Bellport, N.Y.
