Men's Golf Slots In Eighth at Shark Shootout

Roslyn Harbor, N.Y. - Coming off its first win since the NE10 Championship, the Adelphi University men's golf team earned an eighth-place finish at the Shark Shootout, hosted by Long Island University at Engineers Country Club. 

The tournament was formatted with three rounds of 18 holes over the course of two days. The Panthers were one of 12 schools competing, placing highest amongst non-Division I teams. Seton Hall, LIU, Siena, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant, and Holy Cross all finished above the Brown and Gold. 

Sophomore Francis Lanuza led the way for the 'Cats, shooting a team-best 71 in Round 2. He completed the tournament at 12-over to give himself a Top 15 finish. Filip Wetterqvist wasn't far behind, hitting a 4-over 75 in the opening and closing rounds to slide in at 21st. 

Mason Rivera finished strong with a pair of 75's on the last 36 holes to place 39th. Newcomer Axel Romney produced his second-consecutive tournament of shooting the same score in every round. The freshman shot an 8-over 79 in all three rounds. 

Johnny Solari rounded out the Panther scorecard with a total score of 38-over 251. 

Head Coach David Mattana and Adelphi will now look ahead to the Farmingdale Spring Invitational, starting on Friday (Apr. 19) at Bethpage Red Golf Course in Farmingdale.
