Bellport, N.Y. - This past weekend, the Adelphi University men's golf team finished in first place at the St. Joseph's Long Island Invitational, which took place at Bellport Country Club.

The Panthers were one of five teams that competed, with SUNY Old Westbury, host St. Joseph's University (L.I.), Mount Saint Mary College, and Manhattanville University all finishing below them in that order.

The Brown and Gold plastered their names all over the leaderboard, with the top five names all coming from Adelphi's scorecard. Freshman Axel Romney led the entire pack, taking the individual championship after shooting a consistent 73 on both days. Francis Lanuza and Johnny Solari finished second and third, respectively, shooting two-day totals of 152 and 153.

Junior Kobe Currie headlined the individual circuit, winning by 29 strokes ahead of his other two competitors, finishing strong with a 76 in Round 2.

Mason Rivera and Alec Ramos rounded out the Panther scorecard with total scores of 156 and 161. Rivera finished fifth individually, with Ramos slotting in at eighth.

Head Coach David Mattana and Adelphi now look to the Shark Shootout, where they compete today (Apr. 15) and tomorrow (Apr. 16) at Engineers Country Club in Roslyn Harbor, N.Y.
