Garden City, N.Y. - With a 12-for-16 performance at the faceoff X for
Connor Malley, the no. 4 Adelphi University men's lacrosse program secured its eighth consecutive win over Franklin Pierce, 14-2 on Saturday's senior day.
Eight different players found the back of the net in the victory, highlighted by a hat trick effort from
Eamon Hall. All three keepers spent some time between the pipes -
Dylan Renner taking the victory with seven saves while
Aidan Green and
Brandon Kessler combined for eight saves with just one goal allowed.
The Ravens (3-8, 0-7 NE10) did all they could to hold the Panthers (10-2, 7-0) to just three goals in the first as the home team put up double-digit shots in the opening frame. Adelphi stifled Franklin Pierce with seven straight goals before the visitors got on the board with a lone goal from Ethan Cote. This marks just the second game this season that the Brown and Gold held its opponent to a single goal in the opening half after doing so on March 20 against American International.
Braden Donnellan got things going for the Panthers to start the third, sparking a 7-0 quarter to separate itself from the Ravens for good. First years bookended the frame with Donnellan at the start and
Michael Durnin getting in the last word to make it 14-1 in favor of the hosts.
Franklin Pierce managed to out shoot Adelphi in the final quarter, as Cote registered another for a two-point day. The teams went back and forth in the final 15 minutes but it was high and wide shots plus three saves from Jack Marra that kept the home team off the scoreboard.
Head Coach
Gordon Purdie and his squad will return to Motamed Field in a week for its annual Alumni Game on April 20. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. following the women's lacrosse game at noon. Both teams will recognize and bring awareness to Morgan's Message as part of it's mental health awareness game.
