Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#2 Women's Lax Bested in OT at East Stroudsburg, 11-10

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - It took extra time in the top-10 battle to come to a decision on Saturday, as no. 2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse ultimately fell 11-10 to no. 7 East Stroudsburg, in non-conference action.

The game was tied after the opening quarter but contributions from Kelly-Ann McGrath, Tamia Lawson and Kerrin Heuser in the second allowed the Panthers (3-1) to hold a one-goal advantage at the break.

Lawson netted her second of the contest in a man-up possession to open the third as the visitors rattled off three straight to lead 10-6. Fiona Rafferty found Marielle Colalillo at 7:22 to extend the margin to four, but East Stroudsburg managed the last word to cut their deficit to three with one frame to go.

The fourth quarter was even in shots on goal but three of the Warriors' six found a way past Jillian McFadden to ultimately knot the game at 10-all. Back-to-back turnovers returned possession to the home team who scored with three seconds on the board to send the game to overtime.

Heuser landed a shot on goal which was picked up by Abby Simonetti in the extra period, but a late foul on Rafferty gave the Warriors a free-position attempt with 50 seconds left on the clock. Hannah Schiemer of ESU bounced a shot low to earn the victory for the hosts, taking down the no. 2 Panthers.

Heuser and McGrath both recorded hat tricks in the win with the latter winning a team-high nine draw controls and causing three turnovers. McFadden put together a new career-high in saves, finishing with 11.

The Panther squad will return to its home field for the first time in nearly a month when they host Saint Michael's College on Saturday, March 16.
