Waltham, Mass. - With the help of a career-high eight goals from
Eamon Hall, the no. 5 Adelphi University men's lacrosse staged a comeback to defeat no. 9 Bentley University on Saturday to earn its first conference victory of the season.
Down two following a three-goal stretch from the home team, Hall notched two of his eight tallies to even the score at five-all with 2:48 in the second quarter. It was the Falcons (2-3, 0-2 NE10) that got the last word in before the half expired, to hold a one-goal advantage at the break.
Adelphi's 4-1 third quarter proved to be the difference maker, as an unassisted strike from
Logan Tucker at the buzzer swung momentum in favor of the Cats, who held a two-goal edge leading into the final frame of regulation.
Successfully scoring in every quarter, Hall registered the first two goals in the fourth, which extended the Panther advantage to four. Two goals for the home team within 30 seconds of each other may have been the start of a comeback but it was Hall who put another past Jackson Tinsely to end the game and his career-day.
Dylan Renner put up 14 stops between the pipes as the visiting team managed to capitalize twice with five man-up opportunities.
The Panthers are back at Motamed Field on Wednesday, March 20 when they host American International College at 7:00 p.m.
