Rindge, N.H. - In a return to New Hampshire three days following its last visit, the Adelphi University women's basketball team lost by a 68-51 final to Franklin Pierce University in an NE10 showdown at The Fieldhouse in Rindge.
Only trailing 12-11 after one quarter of play, the Panthers (5-19, 3-15 NE10) were unable to generate much offensively, shooting just 32.0 percent from the field in the contest.
A
Christina Sanchez three-pointer had the 'Cats trailing by a point, before a 22-12 second quarter gave the Ravens (14-9, 9-9 NE10) all the offense they would need.
Although
Rolanda Robinson's three to open the second quarter gave Adelphi the lead for a time, Franklin Pierce responded with a 17-2 run over a six-minute stretch that put the hosts in front for good.
Seven different scorers produced an efficient .600 field-goal percentage in the quarter for the Ravens, who took a comfortable 34-23 advantage into the break.
The Brown and Gold hit on five consecutive buckets out of the half to drop the hosts' lead below double digits.
A five-minute scoring drought then proceeded to thwart Adelphi's comeback, allowing Franklin Pierce to grow its lead to as many as seventeen points in the third quarter.
Graduate forward
Jenna Jordan went 9-for-12 from the line and led all players with 19 points in the effort. Robinson added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with six rebounds.
Head Coach
Sade Jackson and the 'Cats will welcome back all their former Panthers this Saturday (Feb. 17) with an Alumni Day showdown against Saint Anselm College at the Center for Recreation and Sport. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
