Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Extra Time No Good in Men's Basketball Loss at SNHU, 81-75

Manchester, N.H. - After a three-point play tied the contest at 66-all, the Adelphi University men's basketball could not hold on through overtime, ultimately falling by an 81-75 final decision to Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday.

Only three players finished in double-digit scoring for the Panthers (15-8, 11-6 NE10) with Dayshaun Walton leading all players with 25 points. Elijah Lewis accounted for 21 with a 7-for-13 performance from the field and a nearly flawless trip to the free throw line.

Four of the Penmen's starters scored in double-figures and received an additional 10 (of 17) points off the bench from Jordan Brathwaite. The home team also won in the rebounding column, with 37 compared with Adelphi's 29.

In a battle beyond the arc, the visitors landed one more than SNHU, knocking down nine on 26 attempts for a 35 percent clip.

The Panthers trailed by eight after the opening half that saw the home team lead by at-most 13.

After cutting the deficit to single digits, the Penmen worked it back out to a 10-point advantage after Lewis and Noah Kamba traded three-pointers at 11:58 in the second half. A 10-4 run in favor of Adelphi brought the game to a 58-58 stalemate with under four to play, but several late baskets for the home team kept them ahead until the Panthers' final possession. Walton drove to the basket with 1.3 seconds left and earned the and-one to send the game to overtime.

Conor Regan opened the extra frame with a three-pointer but a nine-point swing over the ensuing three minutes all but sealed the deal for the hosts. Another timely three for the Penmen, coupled with poor shooting from the free throw line for Adelphi saw the game quickly slip away as time expired.

Adelphi remains on the road next week when they head to Franklin Pierce on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
