Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Seven Straight! Balanced Attack Puts Men’s Basketball Over Goldey-Beacom, 68-62

Wilmington, Del. — The Adelphi men's basketball team played its third game of its five game road trip on Sunday afternoon when it traveled to Goldey-Beacom.

The Lightning jumped out to an early 10-0 lead just two and a half minutes in but the Panthers quickly responded with five points of their own. Goldey-Beacom regained a nine point lead in a slow start to the first half but at around the halfway mark, buckets started to fall for both teams.

Adelphi tied the game at 17 at 9:43 on a pair of free throws from Andres Fulgencio and the offense started to get into gear. This sparked a 12-3 Panther run that saw Adelphi grab a nine point lead.

Goldey-Beacom fought back with a couple of buckets as Adelphi took only a four point lead into the break.

Fulgencio started off the second half hot, scoring the first five points of the period. The Adelphi lead grew to double digits on an Al-Fatir Connor three pointer. The Panthers continued their offensive attack, but it was halted by staunch defense from the Lightning. Their lead quickly dwindled as Goldey-Beacom tied the game back up at 57 with just a little more over five minutes to play.

Dayshaun Walton responded with a three for the 'Cats and momentum once again shifted in Adelphi's favor. A timeout from Dave Duke would keep the team focused as the three point lead turned into a seven point lead that would put the Lightning to bed. The Panthers took home a 68-62 victory.

Three Panthers scored double digits and eight found the scorebook with Connor leading the way with 17 points.

Jarnel Rancy led the team in rebounds (seven) and blocks (seven).

Walton had a team-high five assists.

The 'Cats will return the court for the first time in 2025 when they travel to New Haven on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m
