Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stellar Shooting Guides Men's Basketball Past Bentley, 76-71

Waltham, Mass. — The Adelphi men's basketball traveled up to Bentley on Wednesday afternoon for its second tilt of conference play.

Similarly to their last game against Assumption, the Panthers got off to a slow start, not scoring their first bucket until three minutes into the game.

Al-Fatir Connor started off the scoring and was followed by Matthew Price and Dayshaun Walton who poured in some quick buckets.

Shooting stayed hot for Adelphi as they finished the first half shooting 15-28 from the floor and 50% from behind the three point line.

The 'Cats took a 40-36 lead into the half and looked to build upon it in the second period.

Bentley scored the first five points of the half to take the lead but Adelphi quickly regained it on a Walton three. The Browns and Gold tried to expand its lead, but Bentley kept responding to keep the game in reach.

Halfway through the second stanza, the Panthers finally got the breathing room they needed as shots from Connor, Walton and Andres Fulgencio ballooned the Adelphi lead to 11.

With less than three minutes to play, Bentley tried to play spoiler. Four made free throws and a layup in the paint got the Falcons within three with under a minute to play.

A missed Bentley three pointer set up a Tavin Pierre Philippe dagger fadeaway that gave the Panthers a 76-71 win and move their record to 3-2, 1-1 NE10.

Walton led the team in scoring with a season-high 18 points. Fulgencio (13), Connor (11) and Pierre Philippe (10) all scored double digits as well. As a team, the Brown and Gold shot 50% and 40.7% from three point land.

Jarnel Rancy had a team high seven rebounds and three blocks. Mason Jackson led Adelphi with five assists.

Head coach Dave Duke and the Panthers will return to the court Saturday when they take on Chestnut Hill at 3:30 p.m. in Philadelphia
