Volleyball Eliminates Pace from NE10 Tournament, Advance to Semis

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team returns to the Northeast-10 semifinals for the third time in as many years, following a three-set sweep of no. 5 Pace University on Tuesday in quarterfinal action.

Noelle Alberda put herself as the match leader with 12 kills, followed by Emilia Cascapera and Delaney Kiendra, who both accounted for 10 kills apiece.

Adelphi's 8-2 advantage in service aces proved to be the difference-maker inside the Center for Recreation and Sports. The home team came away with manageable victories in sets one and two, but had to come from behind in the final frame to seal the deal.

Trailing by two, 16-14, Kiendra notched a kill and Kambel Fiser put up a solo block that brought the score even at 16-all. The Setters put two more points on their side of the board before another Cascapera kill saw the Cats back by one.

A late sub saw Anna Oden walk to the service line and land an ace on her opening try - the first of three in her six point swing that all but stole the show for Adelphi. The teams traded service errors but Alberda closed the door and sent Pace out of the contention for the second consecutive season.

The Panthers ousted the Setters in the 2023 NE10 tournament as well in a three-set victory.

By way of the four-seed, the Cats will take on the host and top-seeded Yellow Jackets of American International College, who topped Assumption on Tuesday to earn hosting rights for the NE10 tournament.
