Indianapolis, Ind. — The Adelphi women's soccer team has been tapped with hosting duties for the east region for the 2024 NCAA tournament. The Panthers were Northeast-10 regular season champions and reached their third straight conference final.
Kayleigh Goodrich was named NE10 player of the year, head coach Brooke DeRosa received coach of the year honors and eight 'Cats were named to all-conference teams.
As the one seed, Adelphi received a bye into the second round and will face the winner of No. 4 Jefferson and No. 5 Bentley.
Jefferson was the CAAC champion and currently stand with a 17-1-2 record. The Panthers are 8-0-2 all time against the Rams, with the last meeting being a 1-0 Adelphi victory in 2015.
Bentley enters the tournament with a 8-3-7 record and a lot of familiarity this season with the Panthers. The 'Cats most recently defeated the Falcons in the NE10 semifinals on penalty kicks thanks to some heroics from Alba López Martínez.
The bottom half of the east region features No. 2 Franklin Pierce vs. No. 7 Wilmington (Del.) and No. 3 Southern New Hampshire vs. No. 6 Molloy. The Panthers have faced all four of these teams in 2024, defeating SNHU and Molloy, going 1-1 to Franklin Pierce (the loss being in the NE10 final) and losing to Wilmington (Del.) early in the season.
The first and second round games will take place at Motamed Field on Friday and Sunday, with both games being played at 3 p.m.
