Lee Scores Career-High Four Goals In Field Hockey's 5-2 Win Over Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H. - In their first set of back-to-back wins of the season, the Adelphi University field hockey team won its contest against Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon, by a final score of 5-2.

Senior Amanda Lee stole the show, setting a new career-high with four tallies. The forward also now ties the all-time goals record in program history at 42 with Julianne Gerbino '12.

It was the Ravens who established the pace early on, with two penalty corners in the first three minutes. About halfway in however, Sydney Rossacci took the rebounded save of Lee's initial shot and curled her ball home to the back of the net to put the Brown and Gold on top. Franklin Pierce tallied four shots in the period, with Tayla Szmak saving three.

In the second quarter, Lee followed up with the first of her two on the day to double the Panther lead. Szmak would save one more host shot before the visitors headed into the locker room up 2-0.

Lee continued to dial up the pressure, scoring her second just 2:32 into the second half after an own goal deflection from a Raven defender. Franklin Pierce would respond with their first score just past five minutes in via Aria Caputo.

Kylie Peregoy accumulated her fifth defensive save of the season as the fourth quarter opened play, her 23rd of her career. Lee would tally her second-ever career hat trick after finding the ball in a scrum of players to send back home.

Justina Cavallaro was placed in between the pipes a few minutes into the final frame. In her 5:36 of action, she kept the Ravens scoreless. Allison Gregory would also make her collegiate debut shortly afterwards, clocking the final 5:47.

There was just over a minute left in the contest when Lee would get that career-defining fourth goal when her and Jillian Riche executed a flawless tic-tac-toe, two on one break.

Head Coach Jess Mulhern and the Panthers will return home to Garden City on Wednesday, October 9 against St. Thomas Aquinas. Game time from Motamed Field is set for 7 p.m.
