Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to No. 10 Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi men's soccer team traveled up to No. 10 Franklin Pierce on Saturday night for a highly anticipated Northeast-10 contest.

The Panthers and Ravens would trade possessions early on with neither squad able to create a true scoring chance. The Panthers had a flurry of shots with 15 minutes remaining in the half but none would find paydirt.

That was until Pablo Herrera entered. Much like the game prior, Herrera made an immediate impact. In the 41st minute, after a Franklin Pierce goal kick, the ball would be kicked around and find the feet of the Spanish native. Herrera would fire a shot into the lower right corner of the net and give Adelphi a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately for the 'Cats, their joy would be short lived as the Ravens would tie the game up just 30 seconds before the halftime horn sounded.

At the beginning of the second half, Adelphi would threaten with two free kicks but neither would result in goals. Both teams would wait each other out, neither with legitimate chances for a large portion of the period. The Panthers defense was strong until the 74th minute when Franklin Pierce finally broke through to take a 2-1 lead. From there, the floodgates would open as the Ravens would tack on two more goals to hand Adelphi a 4-1 loss.

Santiago Arango would make three saves in the match while the Brown and Gold held an eight to six edge on corner kicks.

Head coach Gary Book and the Adelphi men's soccer team will return to the pitch on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they travel to Southern Connecticut State.
