Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Peregoy Sets New Defensive Save Record; Field Hockey Dominates SCSU on Senior Day 7-1

Garden City, N.Y. - On the backs of four combined goals from Amanda Lee and Jillian Riche, the Adelphi University field hockey team won its Senior Day contest over Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field, by the final score of 7-1.

Graduate defender Kylie Peregoy made her own headlines in the afternoon, tallying her 27th defensive save across her Adelphi career, passing Briana Rubenstein '15 for sole possession of first place in program history.

After a pregame ceremony honoring seniors Lee, Ali Nagy, Riche, Sophia Worst, and Francesca Manzella, the Brown and Gold took the field for their second-last regular season home game of 2024.

The offense is seemingly wasting no time as of late, as it was Riche who broke the ice under four minutes into the contest. As high-scoring as the game would eventually become, the first quarter saw a balanced scoresheet outside of the goal, with the Owls only trailing two in shots while earning the lone penalty corner.

While SCSU would again gain the corner advantage in quarter two, it was the Panthers netting a score, with Lee tallying her ninth on the season in the latter half of the frame. By the halftime break, the hosts were owning the shot advantage 12-5, four of which were on goal.

Emiline Biggin would begin the scoring onslaught from the home team, with Sydney Rossacci setting her up just 1:42 after the second half clock started. Towards the end of the quarter, Riche would grab her second with Sydney Flores taking the assist there.

The final two goals of the third came in just a 52 second stretch, as Daniella Lister tallied the first of her collegiate career with under a minute to play. To follow that up, Flores would net her second on the year, with Lee assisting for her third point of the day.

Peregoy's historic moment came in the final frame when she prevented a shot from Southern's Keana Criscuolo from entering the net, permanently etching her name into the record books.

Lee would round out the Panther scoring for her tenth of the season, now her fourth consecutive season with double digits. To end the shutout, Kyla Hart-Perron of the visitors would get the only score before the clock struck zero.

Head Coach Jess Mulhern and Adelphi will now start a three-game road trip, starting with cross-town rival Molloy University. Game time from Seaford, N.Y. is set for 3 p.m.
