Manchester, N.H. - Another double-double wasn't the highlight for the graduate forward, but rather that
Jenna Jordan arrived at the 1,000-point milestone in the Adelphi University women's basketball team's 68-61 loss to Saint Anselm College in NE10 action at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Saturday.
Despite starting the game off 1-for-9 from the floor, Jordan buried her last four field goals and sank four shots from the line to complete the 14-point goal for 1,000 career points.
Even after slipping into a 3-for-23 shooting funk in the third quarter, the Panthers still managed to cut it close in the fourth quarter.
In a short three-minute span, Adelphi sliced a 10-point deficit in half. A transition lay-up and two free throws for freshman guard
Lauren Beberman had the Panthers within 62-57 at the 1:38 mark.
Fellow freshman
Isabella Asencio then hit on back-to-back lay-ups, closing the gap to 65-61 with 48 seconds left.
Saint Anselm (6-7, 3-4 NE10) held off the 'Cats in the end though, ultimately dropping Adelphi to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in NE10 play.
Head Coach
Sade Jackson and the Panthers now begin a three-game homestand, starting Wednesday (Jan. 10) against Franklin Pierce University at 5:30 p.m. at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
