Colchester, Vt. - A pair of second-half goals by
Victor Castel rallied the Adelphi University men's soccer team past Saint Michael's College, 2-1, in NE10 action Saturday at Duffy Field.
Castel, who already had a two-goal game to his credit this week, picked up his second brace in as many contests. He was responsible for both game-winners in the team's two league matches this week.
With the score tied 1-1 and the clock ticking around eight minutes in regulation,
Adis Kolenovic played a perfect cross into the area that Castel volleyed underneath the crossbar for the eventual game-winner.
The Panthers (5-3-1, 2-1 NE10) outshot Saint Michael's 11-3 in the second half, after trailing 1-0 at the break.
Castel's equalizer came in the early goings of the second half. Off a throw-in,
Richard DeBrosse found Castel with a touch, leading to a long run for the second-year Panther.
From just outside the eighteen, Castel planted a right-footed strike inside the left post to tie the game at 1-apiece in the 57th minute.
In addition to his two tallies, Castel set a season-high with four shots on goal in the contest. The Panthers are now winners of three in a row, when Castel has registered a point in a match.
Now winners of five of six, Adelphi travels to Waltham, Mass. for a 3 p.m. kickoff at Bentley University on Wednesday (Oct. 4).
