Colchester, Vt. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team will return home from this week's road trip with another favorable result, following a 3-1 win at Saint Michael's College Saturday in NE10 action at Duffy Field.
The Panthers (6-1, 3-0 NE10) nearly had a fifth clean sheet on their 2023 resume, until Saint Michael's (2-3-2, 0-3 NE10) broke the shutout bid with 7:08 left in regulation.
In a game with nineteen shots on goal between the two teams,
Krista Aliscio stood tall in the Adelphi net, tallying a season-high seven saves.
Midway through the first half,
Morgan Salmon played a perfect diagonal from midfield that
Lola Kochanskyj flicked over the Saint Michael's keeper for the game's first goal.
Minutes later, the 'Cats doubled their lead, when
Gia Mandile tapped in a rebound at the 12:31 mark after
Madison Apicella's initial shot was denied on the doorstep.
Adelphi's two-goal cushion stood up for much of the second half, until Mandile's brace stretched it further in the 78th minute.
The Panthers set a season-high with 21 total shots on the day.
Kayleigh Goodrich led all players with six of those attempts.
Head Coach
Brooke DeRosa and her Adelphi squad are home to welcome in Southern Connecticut State University for an NE10 tilt on Wednesday (Sept. 27) at 7 p.m.
