Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Stumbles at #10 SNHU, 2-0

Manchester, N.H. - In addition to playing with 10 men for much of the contest, the Adelphi University men's soccer team was unable to handle No. 10 Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, falling 2-0 in its 2023 NE10 opener at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

The loss drops the 'Cats to 2-3-1 and 0-1 in NE10 play, while the nationally-ranked Penmen now stand at 4-0-2 and 1-0 in conference games.

While Adelphi was left shorthanded eight minutes in, the Brown and Gold were held without a shot for the first time in the Gary Book coaching era.

The red card assessed to Adelphi's Leo Carlsson Senoo resulted in a penalty, leading to Philipp Herrmann's first of two tallies on the afternoon. Hermann found the back of the net again in the 23rd minute.

Adelphi spent forty-eight percent of its possession time in its own end, in contrast to SNHU's thirty-eight percent. Overall, SNHU maintained possession sixty-one percent of the time to Adelphi's thirty-nine for the match.

Daniel De La Heras stood in goal for the full ninety for Adelphi and made four saves in the contest.

Book and the Panthers will look to turn the tide on Tuesday (Sept. 19) in nearby Rockville Centre, N.Y. for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Molloy University.
