Box Score Syracuse, N.Y. - In a back-and-forth affair for a better part of the afternoon, the Adelphi University men's lacrosse team suffered their final loss to Le Moyne College on Sunday, 11-7 in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA tournament.
Although the hosts scored first, it was the Panthers that netted back to back scores to take a 2-1 lead after the opening frame.
Logan Tucker and
Eamon Hall found the back of the net early on as the Adelphi defense managed to limit the scoring for the remainder of the quarter.
The Dolphins, who are amidst a perfect season at 17-0 in their final go at a Division II Championship, scored the next two goals to regain the advantage, but then the teams traded tallies with
Brian Harinski getting in the last word at the horn to head into the locker room at a 4-4 stalemate.
Dylan Barry and Hall connected coming out of the break, but Le Moyne strung together three unanswered to take a lead they'd never relinquish. In the frame, the Cats committed five turnovers, compared to the hosts two, which proved to be the turning point, despite the teams being even at 16-all in miscues for the contest.
Trailing by three,
Joseph Duchnowski came around the net and slung a shot to the back of the cage to cut the deficit to two, but the home team was responsible for two more goals prior to the conclusion of regulation,
The Panthers conclude the 2023 season at 16-4 overall after opening the year on a 14-0 win streak.
