Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#3 Men’s Lacrosse Holds Off #10 Pace, 18-7

Garden City, N.Y . - Powered by a combined 10 goals from the trio of Joseph Duchnowki, Jason Rebaudo and Logan Tucker, the Adelphi University men's lacrosse team gave Pace University their second loss of the season on Wednesday night at Motamed Field..

The Panthers (10-0, 6-0 NE10) got off to a hot start, scoring the match's first five goals in a 4:15 stretch which saw Rebaudo and Dylan Barry each netting a pair. While it looked like the 'Cats were close to a first quarter shutout, Pace's Marcus Ottaviano got a goal credited after the ball bounced off of him into the net with under a second to play.

The Setters' Anthony Caputo struck first in the second frame less than two minutes in to cut the deficit to three. The home team then controlled the rest of the quarter, going on a 6-2 run highlighted by Rebaudo completing his hat-trick in the first 30 minutes of action with another buzzer-beating goal in this period. The home defense shined as the visitor squad's Daniel Zabbia, who ranks second nationally in goals per game average, was held scoreless until the 5:18 mark.

The 'Cats came out of the locker room ready, responsible for all five goals of the period and holding the Setters scoreless. Other than the defensive showing, the sequence that stole the show was Tucker scoring a goal with 5:12 left, followed by intercepting a pass of Pace goalie Louis Ragusa's before heaving the ball into the empty net just nine seconds after his previous score.

The final quarter was the only one in which Pace won, at a 3-2 clip. The road team's Jake Veras scored two goals in 48 seconds to complete his hat trick on the night. Duchnowski also found his third of the night for the 'Cats final tally of the night at 8:17.

In goal for the Panthers, Dylan Renner matched his season high saves from a game ago, finishing with 15 in nearly four quarters of work.

Adelphi is back in action on Saturday, April 8 when they travel to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's College. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
