Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Advances to NE10 Semifinals Following 21-4 Rout of SNHU

Garden City, N.Y.- After an offensive clinic highlighted by 10 combined goals between Kyle Lewis, Eamon Hall, and Joseph Duchnowski, the no. 3 (no. 5 nationally) Adelphi University men's lacrosse team took down no. 6-seeded Southern New Hampshire at Motamed Field Saturday by a final score of 21-4.

Offense galore was the only way to describe the first quarter, with 11 total goals. Duchnowski netted all three of his goals in a 5:09 stretch which highlighted an eight-goal opening frame. While the Penmen (6-6, 5-5 NE10) were able to keep it close for the first 10 minutes, the home team was quickly able to separate with their attack.

Defense was the name of the game in the second quarter for the Panthers (15-2, 8-2 NE10), allowing a game-low five shots and causing a game-high seven turnovers. The hosts shutout the visitors in the frame while also scoring five including two tallies from Hall to head into the break with a 13-3 lead.

The 'Cats continued to anchor down defensively to start the half in the torrential rain, causing five more turnovers and allowing just six shots. The home team tacked on three more scores with two coming from the stick of Lewis.

Southern New Hampshire scored their only goal of the second half with 10:02 to play courtesy of Tristan Pietz. The home squad then spread the scoring wealth to Nicholas DeBlanco and Jared Pinto, who each scored their first goals of the season. Michael Caiazzo and Vincent McCabe joined in on the fun as well, netting their second and third goals respectively to make the final tally 21-4.

Head Coach Gordon Purdie and his squad will be back in action this Wednesday, May 3, when they travel to no. 2 Bentley for the NE10 Semifinals. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
