Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lax Stumped in NE10 Semifinals by Bentley, 7-4

Waltham, Mass. - Finding themselves in an early 3-0 hole, the Adelphi University men's lacrosse ream was not able to overcome the deficit and as a result were bounced from the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals as no. 2 Bentley went on to seal the deal on a 7-4 decision on Wednesday evening.

This will be the first time since 1998 that the Falcons return to the NE10 finals, a title the Panthers won a season ago by defeating Le Moyne, 9-2.

The first five goals of the game went in favor of the home team, who used back-to-back scores from Luke Jaber to make it 5-0 with 9:41 remaining in the second quarter. Netminder Dylan Renner managed to stop five shots on goal in the opening frame as a hot Falcon offense went off in the second quarter to finish with 18 shots.

Possession at the X was evenly distributed with Adelphi winning six and Bentley seven, but untimely errors continued to keep the Falcons in their offensive zone. The third-seeded Panthers finally got on the board with a man-up tally from Logan Tucker at 8:48 bt both attacking sides cooled off over the ensuing seven minutes and defenses were put to work. The home team snuck in one final goal before the half expired, to lead by five at the break.

Dylan Barry got things going in the second half as the first score for either side and the Brown and Gold picked up momentum when they scored back-to-back courtesy of Eamon Hall, however Jackson Tinsley stopped the next two shots on goal to bring the scoring spree to a halt. The third quarter was the only frame in which Adelphi held them scoreless as Bentley committed seven miscues.

A penalty carried into the final frame of regulation but a turnover on Adelphi led to a quick score to put Bentley ahead for good at 7-3. All-Rookie honoree Kyle Lewis scored the final goal of Adelphi's tournament run at 8:55, but the Bentley defenders shut down the offense much like in the regular season loss last month. Ryan Butler led the Panthers with four caused turnovers and Renner finished with a career-high 18 saves in goal.

The Panthers will now await their fate in the NCAA tournament with the selection show scheduled for Sunday, May 7 at 7:30 PM ET on NCAA.com. The team was ranked at the no. 2 spot in the North Region with today's release of the regional rankings.
