Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#2 Men's Lacrosse Bested on Senior Day Against #18 Bentley, 13-11

Garden City, N.Y. - In its penultimate matchup of the regular season, the Adelphi University men's lacrosse program could not overcome an early deficit, ultimately falling 11-13 to no. 18 Bentley University on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (8-4, 7-2 NE10) got off to a hot start in the game, scoring four straight to lead by three after the opening quarter of work. Logan Tucker was responsible for the opening tally, but the home team was held scoreless until Dylan Barry found the back of the cage with 12:22 on the clock after sweeping in a rebounded effort off a Nick O'Shea attempt. Scoring three unanswered, Adelphi (14-1, 8-1 NE10) went into the locker room tied with Bentley at four-all.

Trading goals throughout the third, the Falcons recorded two in a row to outscore the Panthers 5-3 in the frame and hold that two-goal edge heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

Joseph Duchnowski scoring to start the fourth was a good sign for Adelphi, however Garrett Witt of Bentley kept the home team at bay.  Adelphi didn't have a lead in the game until Kyle Lewis's tally at 6:46 in the fourth made it an 11-10 contest. Late turnovers and key faceoff victories for Bentley allowed them to score three straight en route to taking down the no. 2 ranked Panthers who entered the contest undefeated.

In cage for Bentley, Jackson Tinsley picked up 14 saves between the pipes, collected four saves in two different quarters. For the hosts, Dylan Renner logged all 60 minutes in cage and was responsible for 10 saves, despite logging his first loss of the 2023 campaign.

Head Coach Gordon Purdie and his squad will have another test to conclude the regular season on Tuesday, Apr. 25 when they host the no. 1 team in Division, Le Moyne College. The 'Phins remain as the only undefeated team in the country after taking down Franklin Pierce 22-6 on Saturday. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. at Motamed Field.
