Purdie Becomes Winningest Men's Lacrosse Coach With 14-8 Win at Franklin Pierce

Rindge, NH - Leading his team to a 14-8 victory over Franklin Pierce, Head Coach Gordon Purdie of no. 2 Adelphi men's lacrosse became the program's winningest coach on Saturday, surpassing the Legendary Paul 'Doc' Doherty with 185 career wins.

"Breaking the Adelphi Lacrosse wins record is a reflection of the unwavering dedication and hard work of our players and our entire coaching staff," said Purdie following the game.

"It's an honor to be a part of the Adelphi family, and I am excited to see the continued growth and success of our program. With talented young players and a commitment to excellence, we are confident in our ability to continue making history on and off the field."

Led with five goals from Joseph Duchnowski, he posted a team-best total in points after adding three assists to his stat line. Logan Tucker followed suit with four points courtesy of four goals for the Panthers, who remain undefeated this season.

With an astounding 52-26 advantage in shots overall, the Panthers (14-0, 9-0 NE10) were outscored in the opening frame 5-4 by the Ravens who only have a single win in Northeast-10 Conference play.

For the remainder of the game, the Adelphi defense and netminder Dylan Renner held Franklin Pierce to a single tally in the next three frames, while the offense put together double-digit scoring.

Exploding in the third quarter with five goals, Tucker recorded a hat trick that included a man-down tally to give Adelphi a 12-7 lead. First year Kyle Lewis was responsible for both of the Panther's scores in the final frame, closing the door on a 14-8 decision.

"I am incredibly grateful to my former coach, Paul Doherty, for instilling in me the values of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence. His guidance and mentorship helped shape me as a player and as a person, and breaking his wins record is a testament to his legacy and impact he had here at Adelphi University."

Adelphi's next challenge comes Wednesday, April 19 when they take on Mercy College at 3:00 p.m. in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y..
