Garden City, N.Y.- Powered by 10 combined goals from Danielle Marino, Kerrin Heuser, and Izzy Grant, the no. 9 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team took down Saint Rose in their Morgan's Message/Mental Health Awareness Game by a final score of 17-6.

The Panthers (9-3, 7-1 NE10) came out firing, scoring the game's first six goals in a span of 8:47 including Marino's first pair. The Golden Knights (7-5, 3-4 NE10) recovered slightly after digging that hole, scoring the next two to end the first quarter and start the following frame.

The road team quickly found themselves trailing big once again, as the hosts scored six of the half's last seven goals including Heuser rounding out her hat trick to give the 'Cats a 12-3 halftime advantage.

Saint Rose's Lauren Pendergast scored her first goal of the match at the 7:52 mark of the 3rd quarter. Pendergast came into the matchup as the NE10's second-leading scorer, a testament to the home team defense, who collectively caused 15 turnovers in the game.

Marino scored two more in the third frame to finish the game with four goals. The Panthers' Jamie Mecca scored the last two goals for the victors, as the final buzzer sounded with the scoreboard reading 17-6.

Adelphi will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. Game time set for 11:00 a.m.
