Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#5 Men's Lacrosse Conquers Assumption on Alumni Day, 16-5

Garden City, N.Y. -  On the backs of Eamon Hall and Jack Hipchen combining for a seven goal day, the no. 5 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team took down Assumption University at Motamed Field on Saturday in a special performance.

It was a fast start for the 'Cats (9-0, 5-0 NE10) on the day as they scored five unanswered goals to open up action with two scores each from Hall and Hipchen. Assumption (2-5, 1-3 NE10) finally got themselves on the board thanks to Jackson Bulger netting one with just under six seconds to play in the first period.

The Greyhounds capitalized on their momentum to begin the second quarter of play, scoring just 17 seconds into the frame while adding two more to cut the once five-goal lead to just one. Adelphi got back into their groove towards the end of the quarter to extend the margin to three by the halftime break.

The start of the second half proved to be a direct contrast from the first 30 minutes. Aside from an early goal from the host's Kyle Steinbach, there was no scoring as the contest became a defensive battle marred by the 'Cats two penalties and being outshot 13-12.

The final 15 minutes of play almost replicated the entire first half's scoring output, as the team's scored nine goals after an opening half that saw 11.  Adelphi left no room for doubt scoring eight of the period's nine, with two coming from Logan Tucker to extend his scoring streak through all nine games this season.

Assumption notched one tally in the second half, coming with just under six minutes to play to break a 34:21 scoreless drought which included eight turnovers. The Brown and Gold, who donned replica throwback jerseys in the NE10 matchup, closed out the game on a 9-1 scoring run.

Adelphi returns to action this Wednesday, April 5 when they take on Pace University at Motamed Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
