Miami Shores, Fla. - On a day when the 'Cats rested several starters, the Adelphi University baseball team suffered a 17-1 setback against Barry University at Feinbloom Field on Saturday night.
Joe Pasqua and
Phillip D'Aguanno both made their first collegiate starts in the field, and
Carlos Acosta took to the hill for his first career start.
Barry (14-6) went deep twice in the first inning and raced out to a 7-0 advantage after two innings of play.
Adelphi (4-6) broke the Barry stronghold in the fourth, when
Joe Pellegrino scored D'Aguanno with an RBI groundout.
Acosta and
Kendall Kendrick each collected three strikeouts in their appearances.
Jacob Lee and
Ryan De La Rosa both took the ball for an inning apiece.
Cooper Johnson,
Jack Wishner and
Anthony Cipri all mustered a hit off Barry pitching, as did D'Aguanno and
C.J. Picone.
Head Coach
Bill Ianniciello and the Panthers turn their attention back to regional competition tomorrow (Mar. 12) with a 4 p.m. first pitch against Post University in Miami Shores.
