Oceanside, N.Y. - In the second match of a back-to-back this weekend, the Adelphi University men's tennis team lost by a 4-3 final to Post University in non-conference action at the Point Set Racquet Club.
Sophomore
Marko Jovanovic, who has found himself on the hard-luck side of tiebreaks of late, came up short in another tiebreaker. He and
Reece Farrow lost the decisive No. 2 doubles match by a 6-7 (6-8) scoreline.
In singles, Jovanovic's match at the No. 1 flight went to a third-set tiebreaker, where Post's James Vincent won by a narrow 11-9 margin.
Gabriel Balestero found himself on the winning side for a second-straight day, prevailing 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles position.
Although the match was no longer in limbo,
Salomon Arce Lema (6-2, 6-2) and
Thiago Negrao (6-3, 6-4) won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Panthers will take the week off to re-group, before inviting Daemen University to their Garden City campus next Sunday (Mar. 5) for an 11 a.m. opening serve.
