Game Recap: Softball |

Early Hot Streak Continues to Carry Through Carolina Trip for #11 Softball; 8-1, 3-2

Hartsville, S.C. - The No. 11 Adelphi University softball team put another regional victory under its belt Friday, in a split with Shippensburg University and Coker College at Saleeby-Stokes Field in Hartsville.

While the Panthers improved to 7-3 overall, Adelphi also has three regional wins (Kutztown, Shippensburg) in as many contests through 10 games.

Game 1: #11 Adelphi 8, Shippensburg 1
The Panthers poured it on the Raiders from the get-go, plating six runs across the first two innings.

Already positioning herself as Adelphi's new leadoff hitter, Jordyn Pasqueralli led off the game with a walk and set the table for Alexa Sacripante's two-out, two-RBI double to open the scoring.

As Shippensburg went to the well twice to change pitchers in the first two frames, Adelphi capitalized and jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage.

Coming off her perfect game in Wednesday's outing, Lindsey Hibbs' first nine outs on the day came via strikeout. She finished the afternoon with 15 punchouts.

In the top of the seventh, Kendall Winn's first career roundtripper put a cap on the scoring for the Panthers.

Game 2: #11 Adelphi 2, Coker 3
Just as hot as Zee Zee Shreter has been with the bat early on, so has Courtney Wengryn, who took her opening at-bat deep to dead center.

Although Coker took the lead in its half of the first and retired the next seven Panthers in order, Adelphi got even in the fourth.

Wengryn put the inning in motion by reaching base on a single and stealing second. Faith Camilleri then drove a game-tying RBI double into center, leveling the score at 2-all.

As Adelphi stranded the go-ahead runner at third in the top of the seventh, the Cobras found the winning hit in the bottom.

An error following a successful steal of second base by Coker's Ariana Fair allowed the nine-hitter to round the bases for the winning run.

Hibbs took her first loss of the season in relief, while Claire Fon made the start and surrendered two unearned runs with four strikeouts.

The Carolina trip concludes tomorrow with the same opponents. Adelphi will first face Coker at 12:30 p.m. and then Shippensburg at 3 p.m.
