Garden City, N.Y. - After an emotional senior day ceremony honoring
Ronnie Silva and
Zachary Feingold, the Adelphi University men's basketball team went on .. X-X on Tuesday evening.
Saint Rose landed 3-of-4 shots from the field to assist in a 10-2 run that saw the Golden Knights up eight as the Panther offense went cold and committed two turnovers. Turning it around, the home team landed its next seven attempts to even the score at 22-all over the ensuing five minutes. The visiting team pulled ahead a little but
Elijah Lewis kept the game in reach, tying it up at 29.
Heading into the break, Silva hit a three-pointer at 1:57, but Saint Rose doubled the hosts output with a 6-3 run to lead 40-32 heading into the locker room.
Opening the second half with a 14-9 run, Adelphi still trailed by three to the Golden Knights, but severely cut into the deficit, with Lewis chipping in a team-high eight in the stretch. Silva continued to be clutch when the Panthers were in dire need of a score, dropping a three at 11:05 to be within five of the visiting team from Albany, N.Y.

Mason Jackson who threw down a basket, forcing a Saint Rose timeout as the Panthers cut the Golden Knight advantage to one.
Dayshaun Walton drove to the basket and drew the foul, completing the three-point play to give Adelphi its first lead since the first half.
Sparked by another tre out of the hands of Silva, Adelphi went on a 9-4 run that put them in the drivers' seat for good down the stretch, as the home team managed to hold on to the advantage until the final buzzer sounded.
Lewis finished with a team-leading 21 points as
Mason Jackson followed suit with 18. Also scoring in double figures were Walton and Silva, with four of Silva's six makes coming from three-point land. The Panthers shot a staggering 56 percent from the floor in the second half alone, holding their opponents to just over 40 percent.

Dave Duke and his squad will meet Pace University in the opening round of the playoffs as the 10-seed, scheduled to begin Friday, February 24.
