Pleasantville, N.Y. - With a chance to make it past the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference for the first time in Head Coach
Dave Duke's tenure, the Adelphi University men's basketball team was matched up against Pace University, marking the third meeting this season for the pair.
While the Setters shot 50 percent from the field, the Panthers (12-17) were held to less then 30 percent shooting, with just three players reaching double-digit scoring for the visitors.
Elijah Lewis led the way with 15 points and was followed by four-time NE10 Rookie of the Week
Dayshaun Walton.
Adelphi's lead was brief as Pace rattled off an 11-2 scoring run to jump out to a nine-point advantage. A three-pointer from Lewis at 5:36 brought the visiting team within one, and a later shot from downtown at 1:36 actually knotted the game at 26-all. Former Panther
Adonis Williams got the last word in for Pace, scoring enarly at the buzzer to push the hosts lead out to five.
In a matter of six minutes, Adelphi was trailing by double-digits, a margin they'd maintain for the remainder of the contest. The Panthers were ice cold from the field for much of the second, with the Setters leading by at-most 22.
Ronnie Silva finishes his storied career as the program's leading scorer with 2,048 points.
Dave Duke and his squad conclude the 2022-23 season with a 12-17 overall record with the team's eighth consecutive trip to the NE10 tournament. Keep it tuned to
